Piment - A medieval recipe for Mulled Wine - Originally made with honey this drink is a little different to a modern mulled wine. This is the blend for you if you dislike cinnamon. It is smoother in flavour with a gentle hint of sweet herbs.
Piment was made using honey, however, sugar became cheaper and more available, and it became the more popular choice. For best results, use runny honey or brown sugar, which will also be perfect for a vegan version. White sugar is not recommended for making Piment..
To Make: you will need 1 standard size bottle (75cl) of wine - white or red, not too dry.
I use genuine historical recipes as my inspiration for products, and this 'Piment' spice blend is one of three mulling spice blends I make. All of my products are handmade, produced in a domestic kitchen which is rated hygiene 5, and registered with my local council.
